Community Benefit Fund
Following the comments from the public exhibitions held in November 2023, we are now consulting further on the Community Benefit Fund.
One of the project’s most transformative aspects is the Community Benefit Fund, which will be available to the communities of Breakish, Broadford, Kyleakin, and Sleat.
The Community Benefit Fund will be set up as a legally binding agreement guaranteeing £5k per MW of installed wind capacity, which equates to £528k each year. The 40-year fund would increase with inflation, and therefore, the potential scope for community projects would be significant, benefiting individuals, community groups, and businesses.
To ensure the fund truly reflects the aspirations and needs of local residents, Arise has commissioned EKOS, an independent company, to conduct a comprehensive community survey.
This consultation is not about gathering opinions on the Breakish Wind Farm project itself but rather about how the potential funds can best serve your communities.
The surveys will arrive by post from July 5th onwards, with a cut-off return date of August 1st, 2024. Residents and businesses are invited to return the completed survey in the stamped address envelope provided or by completing it online using their unique code.
Your views and opinions are invaluable in determining how the Community Benefit Fund could be managed, spent, and invested.
If you have any questions about the survey or did not receive a questionnaire via post, please email breakish@ekos.co.uk to request a questionnaire via post or a link to complete the survey online.
We look forward to sharing the survey findings over the coming months.
